Lym not reading her cards is a gag I’ve kept intact throughout all versions of Project Aether. The barrier is another element that has remained, but I’ve played with how it functions a lot. Currently it isn’t resent unless an attack is inbound, at which point a user’s Aether (depicted as little pixels) come together to block it. So, the less Aether you have, the weaker the shield. It introduces an interesting risk/ reward element as the more Aether you use to play spells or summons the weaker your shield becomes. It helped a lot to try to envision what a real life Aether game would look like, and that was where that idea came from. |
