So, there’s a little hint that Zahra’s plan is to lure the beast onto one of the smaller beige trees. The only trees with scratches on them are the thicker brown ones, which is a hint that the beige ones are too weak to withstand the beast messing with them. It isn’t as clear as I’d like though, and this is another thing sacrificed in order to get the comic out quickly and on a smaller canvas. This is clearer in the rewrite.
